Buenos Aires, Feb 4 (NA) – A Venezuelan man has been detained in the province of Corrientes on charges of belonging to the narcocriminal organization Tren de Aragua, declared a terrorist group by the Government. According to information from the provincial federal prosecutor coordinator, Carlos Schaefer, to the Noticias Argentinas news agency, the individual is Delvis Joel Ascanio Salazar, 32, who would have traveled from the coastal city of Mar del Plata to Ita-Ibaté. 'Due to the tattoos, he would be a person linked to Tren de Aragua,' Schaefer specified, for which reason he has not been charged at this time. The National Directorate of Migrations has requested his immediate deportation from the country, while Interpol and other agencies are gathering relevant information for the investigation to ascertain if Ascanio Salazar has any ties to the drug group. The previous case was registered at the end of January when citizen José Félix Peñalver Veliz was located in Ituzaingó while attempting to cross into Paraguay, and he is currently detained with preventive custody until February 26. The suspect stated that he entered Argentina through an unauthorized border crossing in the province of Salta and did not carry out any migration procedures. Additionally, he showed a 'loss certificate' issued by the Corrientes Police on December 19, 2025, the day he said his belongings were stolen in Puerto Iguazú, Misiones.
